Six years ago, having a short stint in working in one of Atlanta's premiere salons, I met this woman JaMieka. She sat in my chair to get her eye brows groomed (because she never had a "reason" to get makeup), and somehow that moment ended up in a 3 hour therapy session. At that time I told her that she was beautiful, fly, and sweet as apple pie.... 'GIRL TAKE SOME PICTURES!"
Needless to say she was wayyyy to shy too take pictures.
Fast forwarding six years.... "Day, It's JaMieka from the salon. You used to do my eye brows. I'm ready!" I was immediately with it! I told her it's nothing like the present.
I called up my long time friend, photographer, Kufunya Kail, and said "Kufunya we are going to make a model out of this girl!"
Three weeks later she stepped in front of the camera, and a model was born.
Simultaneously, as she was seeking me out, I was seeking out to start my next mission... helping plus size women in this industry. I have spent over 20 years working with artist, and now I want to help my "own kind" to acquire the skills to look great and accomplish their goals. Big girls are turning pages and heads, and I wan to be apart of this new movement. God sent JaMieka to my door step, and it's been a match made in heaven.
I proudly present Ja Season! It's JaMieka's Season. Please check out her new website www.jaseason.com. I feel so happy to have worked with her on this project. I was creative director, wardrobe stylist, MUA, and hair stylist for her images. Kufunya Kail rocked the photography, and The Byrd House Group was responsible for her website. I must give a big shout out to Ja Season's normal hairstylist Horace at Pressed Salon, who keeps her hair beautiful on a regular basis.
